Welcome to I Security Labs Antivirus Reviews. We have reviewed many well known and some not so well known antivirus programs to be able to rate the programs and recommend the best. We have given a summary of each program on this page. The rest of the review is available for download in .pdf format. Please note that we may have made some pricing mistakes and other mistakes in our reviews. If we ever find a correction, an alert will be displayed on this page.
Marking Scheme
We mark each program on good and bad points. We also mark the features and test results from Third Parties to come up with a total mark out of ten. We also award the top three programs with Gold, Silver and Bronze awards. Highly Recommended programs that didn’t reach top marks get the Recommended award, which shows that the program is good but missed out on top marks. The results can be seen in the table below from the highest mark to the lowest mark. You can read the complete marking scheme here.

Summary:
Antivir is a free program but we don't think its very good. The test results for Antivir have been terrible and the program doesn't scan email. We don't really recommend this program.

Summary:
Avast is quite good at detecting viruses, reasonably easy to use and best of all, FREE! If you want straight forward and free protection Avast is a good choice.

Bit Defender Free Edition

Summary:
Bit Defender is basically an on demand scanner with no Real Time detection at all. Although this program doesn't prompt you to upgrade, its basically there to make you upgrade to the paid for versions.

E-Trust EZ Antivirus

EZ Antivirus is a very small, cheap and easy antivirus program that runs silently in the background. The test results aren't brilliant though and it lacks some important features such as email protection

Frisk F-Prot

Summary:
F-Prot is a small program designed to keep your computer silently protected. It hardly has any configuration options which some people might think is good but others might find limiting. Sadly, because the program hardly takes up any resources it doesn't have an email scanner which is very important. It doesn't have many features really and we find it a bit worrying that the program doesn't appear to have had any tests from ICSA Labs which is a shame. This means that we can't really recommend the program to people who want all round protection.

Summary:
Mcafee has lots of features and offers rock solid and silent protection for everyone. It has its bad points, the most troubling point being the system resources Mcafee takes up, so if your machine isn't up to scratch then Mcafee is a no go for you. If you've got a system that can handle it, by all means Mcafee is brilliant because of its features, its price and its silent protection.

Eset NOD32 Antivirus

Summary:
NOD32 is an impressive program at a very low cost. It has done very well in tests and is quite easy to use, because its already setup. The program hardly takes up any System Resources either. We are impressed with the performance and price of this program.

Norman Virus Control

Summary:
The general ideas behind Norman are good but its still got a few problems that need sorting, such as a main interface. Its a shame that Norman didn't pass the most recent tests at Virus Bulletin because we quite liked the program. If Norman solves these few problems we'd highly recommend this program but until the test results are better, we are afraid we can't.

Symantec Norton Antivirus

Summary:
Norton is a strong program which provides brilliant protection against viruses and other nasties. It may slow down older machines, but Norton won't affect fast computers with the latest processors and reasonable amounts of memory. All in all, if you have a fast machine and a bit of money to spend, Norton is the perfect program for you.

Panda Antivirus Titanium

Summary:
Panda is a straight forward and cheap solution to protect your PC from viruses. The program does have a lack of features though and its also a bit worrying that it has has so little tests from Virus Bulletin and ICSA Labs. On the other hand its cheap and light on system resources.

PC-Cillin is a strong and very feature rich Antivirus program. It offers good protection and brilliant performance. We hardly have any criticisms to make about the program. The price isn't bad either.
